Yes — BA Transfer provides free baby, infant, child and booster car seats on every London airport transfer, for newborns up to age 12. UK law exempts licensed taxis and private hire vehicles from the child-seat requirement, but we fit the correct, UK-approved seat anyway — installed by your DBS-checked driver. Just request your seat when booking so the right one is ready.

UK law: child car seats in taxis & minicabs
Travelling with children and unsure of the rules? Here are the facts, in plain English — and how we make them a non-issue.
The general rule
Children must normally use a child car seat until they are 12 years old or 135 cm tall, whichever comes first. After that, an adult seat belt is required.
The taxi exemption
Licensed taxis and private hire vehicles are exempt. If the correct seat isn't available, a child may travel without one — but only on a rear seat: ages 3+ must wear an adult belt; under-3s may travel unrestrained in the rear (not in the front).

Which car seat does my child need?
UK child seats are grouped by weight and height (not age). Use this guide, then tell us your child's details when booking — we'll fit the right seat free of charge.

Seats are rear-facing until at least 15 months under the i-Size (R129) standard. Ages are an approximate guide — the legal test is your child's weight and height. All seats meet UK safety standards (R129 i-Size or ECE R44).
How to get a baby seat for your transfer
Tell us when you book
Select the seat option or add your child's age and weight in the notes — by web, phone or WhatsApp. Please request in advance, as seats aren't carried on every vehicle.
We fit the correct seat — free
We assign a vehicle with the right UK-approved seat (and a larger MPV or 8-seater if you need several seats plus luggage). No extra charge, ever.
Driver installs, you check the harness
Your DBS-checked driver is trained to install the seat correctly. For safety, the parent or guardian fastens and checks the child in.
Clean, sanitised seats every time
A child seat is only as good as its condition. Every seat is cleaned and sanitised after use, so your little one always travels in a fresh, hygienic seat.
